Am Montagmorgen dem 7. September 2009 ging die baskische Polizei
„Ertzaintza“ massiv gegen Solidaritätskampagnen zur Unterstützung der
politischen Gefangenen vor. Zwischenfälle wurden aus den Ortschaften
Santurtzi, Donostia (San Sebastian), Elorrio und Lekeitio gemeldet. In
Lekeitio kam es zu massiven Ausschreitungen. Sie Polizei setzte
Gummigeschosse ein und nahm 9 Personen fest. Von den 9 Verhafteten haben
7 Personen Misshandlungen durch die Polizei angezeigt. Ein Verhafteter
musste bewusstlos ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert werden, ein Anderer hat
sexuelle Übergriffe angezeigt. Alle Verhafteten werden wegen
“Terrorismusdelikten” angeklagt, befinden sich jedoch nach Zahlung einer
Kaution zwischen 3000 und 6000 Euro auf freiem Fuss.
Die Solidarität mit den politischen Gefangenen ist seit der
undemokratischen Machtübernahme (Stichwort Verbot der linken baskischen
Partei "Batasuna") durch das Bündnis von Sozialdemokraten (PSOE) und
Postfalangisten (PP), ein grosses Politikum im Baskenland. Die
amtierende Regierung will sämtliche Solidarität verbieten, sogar das
Aufhängen von Fotos der Gefangenen in Bars.
Unsere Solidarität gilt den Genossinnen und Genossen, welche
festgenommen wurden und allen, die am Montagmorgen dem 7. September auf
der Strasse waren.

Solidarity with our comrades in Lekeitio (Basque Country)
On the morning of Monday, September 7th 2009 the Basque police force
“Ertzaintza” brutally attacked the solidarity actions supporting the
political prisoners. Incidents were reported in the areas of Santurtzi,
Donostia (San Sebastian), Elorrio and Lekeitio. There was serious street
fighting in Lekeitio. The police used rubber bullets and arrested nine
people. Of the nine arrested, seven reported of being abused in custody.
One of the arrested, who was unconscious, had to be taken to the
hospital. Another reported of being sexually abused. All of the arrested
have been charged with “terrorist crimes”, but were released after
paying a bail of 3000 – 6000 Euros.
The solidarity with the political prisoners has been a major issue in
the Basque Country since the undemocratic coming into power (keyword
banning of the leftist Basque party “Batasuna”) of the Social Democrats
(PSOE) and the Post-Falangists (PP). The current government wishes to
ban all acts of solidarity, even the hanging up of pictures of political
prisoners in bars.
We would like to send our solidarity to the comrades, who were arrested
and to all who took to the streets on September 7th.
